This weekend I bought a new computer mouse, the Go-Mini Nano Wireless Optical Travel Mouse from Verbatim.

The mouse works fine in Debian 9 (Stretch). The only problem was the speed, because the mouse was very nervous (It seems that drank a cup of coffee at the factory before reaching me). I tried to slow down going to System > Preferences > Mouse but it did not work. Looking at forums, I discovered that xinput can change the speed. This is the way to do it.

THE FIX

We open a terminal and typed:

$ xinput --list --short

As you can see, the mouse was recognized as MOSART Semi. 2.4G Wireless Mouse and their ID is 10.

Now, we typed:

$ xinput -list-props 10

Where 10 is their ID. As you can see, the Accel Speed by default is 0: libinput Accel Speed (288): 0.000000

To slow down a bit, we need type the following command:

$ xinput -set-prop 10 288 -0.950000

Where xinput is the command, -set-prop are settings, 10 is the ID device, 288 is Accel Speed function, and -0.950000 is the set speed.

After trial and error, I discovered that the best resolution for me was -0.850000. You can play with other values as much as you want.

This setting is set immediately in the terminal, but if you restart it will be lost. Is there any way to make it better? Yes. We need to create a new entry at startup. Then we go to System > Preferences > Startup Applications > Add. In the box, at the command section, we write:

Command: xinput -set-prop 10 288 -0.850000

We save and we exit.

That's all.
